The New Taipei City Government launched the New Taipei Mobile Payment APP (NewTaiPAY) service, with the digital economy as the core of development, combined with the municipal interactive reward mechanism to issue New Taipei Coins and provide smart mobile payment tools. Compared with similar services in other cities (such as Kaohsiung Coins, Taitung TT PUSH Kick, Hualien How Q), NewTaiPAY combined with New Taipei Coins breaks the geographic barrier, with cross-regional circulation (can be used in all cities in Taiwan), good health benefits, online mall and brick-and-mortar store integration, multiple payment tools, cloud invoice carrier integration and other diverse advantages. The New Taipei City Government introduces blockchain to improve the security of transactions and provides different methods as economic stimuli when the pandemic gradually eases, and the government actively promotes economic activities.
The New Taipei Mobile Payment APP (NewTaiPAY) service has completed the prototype and is undergoing system stress testing and performance adjustment. If the adjustment is successful, it is expected to coincide with the opening of the Wugu market in early July 2022. Giving away coupons by checking in is the way to do the trial operation. At present, more than 70 stalls applied for service integration and will make final fine-tuning based on the results of the trial operation. It is expected to be officially launched in August.
The New Taipei Mobile Payment APP will continue to expand functions and services in the future (such as fee discount, venue entrance, public welfare donation, and point transfer) and is expected to be with the city government activities to promote services and are gradually expanding business from local characteristic stores in various shopping areas, night market stalls, major department store and online shopping malls. After citizens download the New Taipei Mobile Payment APP (NewTaiPAY), they will be able to use this service in more than 5,000 online shopping malls and brick-and-mortar stores with discounts and freebies, to build an integrated digital economic ecosystem that is common across regions in Taiwan.
