The "International Innovation Awards (IIA)" is organized by the internationally renowned non-governmental organization, Enterprise Asia, which is considered the world's most high-profile innovation service award. Since 2017, its judging panel is composed of multinational innovation experts, key opinion leaders from the academic community and the business sectors to conduct a rigorous written review and interview process to jointly decide the most innovative project from participating companies or organizations. This year, the IIA judges from a global professional perspective highly praised to the New Taipei City Government's system for its excellence in optimizing public resource utilization resulting in fruitful outcomes. The project stood out among entries from enterprises and government agencies worldwide, fully demonstrating the international recognition of New Taipei City's expertise in innovative capabilities.
Chen Fu-Tien, Director of the Information Management Center, stated that New Taipei City places great emphasis on a human-centered approach, believing that public venues are a public good that should be opened and shared with all citizens. By proactively disclosing information about these venues, the city aims to increase utilization and maximize the benefits of public resources. To this end, the city government developed the "New Taipei City Government Public Venue Rental System," which integrates and centrally manages over 1,500 public venues across the city by digitalizing venues information, this allows citizens to conveniently "search, book, and pay" in a one-stop service experience. The system not only enhances the utilization of public resources but also increases citizen satisfaction, benefits both the government and citizens, working together to foster social well-being and achieve the sustainable goals of resource sharing and social prosperity.
New Taipei City has long been committed to the development of a smart city, with remarkable achievements that have consistently earned international recognition. After winning the "2024 GO SMART Award" and the "2024 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards" this year, the city also received further recognition with the "WSCE 2024 Foreign City Awards" in South Korea, as well as dual first prizes at both the "2024 WITSA Global Innovation and Tech Excellence Awards" and the Asia-Pacific "ASOCIO 2024 DX Award." This latest award once again symbolizes New Taipei's elevated achievements in advancing a smart and sustainable city. Moving forward, the city government aims to focus the platform’s development on three main areas: market orientation, brand establishment, and public welfare discounts. These initiatives will not only enhance the utilization of public venue resources but also ensure the sustainability and social impact of the open resource-sharing model.
