The “2024 Asia-Pacific and Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards” is organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), adopted evaluation highlight of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in "the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" announced by the United Nations in 2015. The event aims to recognize outstanding sustainability action plans in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region, fostering international consensus on sustainable development actions and accelerating progress of sustainable development.
Information Management Center of New Taipei City Government is committed to realizing the vision of a sustainable smart city and achieving the goal of reducing 30% carbon reduction emissions by the year of 2030. "NewTaiPAY" combines the concept of sustainable carbon reduction with mobile payment, matches the reward mechanism of New Taipei Dollars. It connects the city government, merchants, and citizen to jointly reduce carbon footprints, optimize carbon emissions from promotional materials, and encourage citizens to recycle plastic bottles for resource circulation. It also raises environmental awareness, creating a virtuous cycle of public-private collaboration and public welfare. Through the reward mechanism, it motivates citizens to actively participate in carbon reduction efforts, expanding the carbon reduction benefits and working together towards a sustainable future.
Since its implementation in 2021, "NewTaiPAY" has already continuously obtained international recognition with the "2023 GO SMART Award-Winner" and the "2023 International Innovation Award (IIA)-Service and Solution Category". This year, "NewTaiPAY" passed the evaluation criteria for SDG 13 and stood out in fierce global competition and obtained the dual bronze awards in the 2024 "TSAA" and "APSAA" at the 2024 Asia-Pacific and Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards. New Taipei City demonstrates unwavering efforts in advancing its vision of a sustainable smart city, showing different aspects including environmental sustainability, social prosperity, and diversity and inclusion, and will continue to work towards creating a symbiotic ecosystem for the citizens, environment, and society of New Taipei City.
