The 2024 NTPC Smart City Forum and ICF Top7 Global Cities Announcement will be held on June 19th. Hosted by the New Taipei City Government in association with the ICF (Intelligent Community Forum) with the theme of "AI: The Innovation Accelerator," the forum will explore how artificial intelligence has contributed to economic growth, sustainability, and human welfare. The program will also bring in the shortlist for ICF Top7 Global Cities Announcement of the Year.
Since Mayor Hou Yu-Ih took office, New Taipei City has consistently promoted smart city systems. By collaborating with enterprises, the city has applied technology in security, healthcare, transportation, and daily life, thereby earning the ICF Smart City of the Year (Top1) award as a world leader in the field of smart cities in 2022. In 2023, New Taipei City passed ICF’s full certification, becoming the world’s first fully accredited smart city. The forum has specially invited John G. Jung, the chairman and co-founder of ICF, to deliver a speech. Robert Bell, the co-founder of ICF, will share the international trends of AI sustainable resilience in smart cities. The Mayor of Dublin, USA, the former Mayor of Sunshine Coast, Australia, the Mayor of Kitchener, Canada, the President of the Institute of Research and Urban Planning of Maceió, Brazil, and the Founder and CEO of BABLE Smart Cities, Germany, will each give a keynote speech on the actual cases of artificial intelligence development in their respective cities.
The panel discussion will be moderated by ICF Co-founder Robert Bell, along with panelists including the Director of Economic Development from Dublin, USA; the CEO of ICF Institute in Taiwan; and Deputy Magistrate Hsieh Shu-Ya from Yunlin County, which is a contender for the 2024 Smart 21. They will share smart city initiatives that contribute to achieving sustainability goals and the challenges they face. In the session on Taiwan’s smart city deployment, Professor Lin Feng-Tyan from the Department of Urban Planning, National Cheng Kung University, will serve as the moderator. He will be joined Far EasTone Telecommunications, LUXGEN Motor, ASUS and Delta Electronics to engage in a cross-sector dialogue, showcasing remarkable cases in energy, transportation, medical, and buildings.
The event will showcase exhibits from 10 distinguished companies and startups. They will display AI technology applications designed for urban environments, providing global partners with more innovative and valuable experiences and solutions. This showcases the advanced technical strength of Taiwanese companies in software development, system integration, and hardware technology, and further offers opportunities to facilitate international business matchmaking.
